Malaysia tops GIEI list for 10 consecutive years

Malaysia has topped the Global Islamic Economic Index (GIEI) for ten consecutive years, according to the Halal Development Corporation (HDC). The 2023 GIEI ranking shows that Malaysia ranks first, followed by Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates.

In the State of the Global Islamic Economy (SGIE) report, Malaysia ranked first in Islamic finance, halal food, halal media and entertainment, second in “moderate fashion”, third in “medicine” and third in “tourism”. fifth. The HDC chairman said this reflects Malaysia’s sustainable progress in the halal field since the establishment of HDC in 2006.

Going forward, Malaysia will maintain its advantageous position through the Halal Industry Master Plan (HIMP2030) and digitalisation.
